We hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. As always, there was lots of hockey going on with Cody Lampl and many of our former teammates in action overseas. Cody Lampl and the Fischtown Pinguins were in Italy for 2 games in another preseason tournament. They won their semifinal game 6-5 over Rittner Buam in a shootout. In the final, Fischtown destroyed Starbulls Rosenheim 7-3. We're are still waiting for the highlights from the games. Sportnewz.bz usually posts the highlights from the Italian Serie A, so hopefully they'll have something for us in a couple days.  In the meantime you can read the post game summary from both games by clicking the links below.

Here's some of the other game highlights and info from the weekend that relates to MHH.

The Vienna Capitals (Austria - EBEL) lost 4-0 to Karpat Oulu (Finland - SM-Liga)  in Champions Hockey League play. It was a meaningless game with both teams already advancing to the round of 32.

Brett Sterling,  Brian Connelly and EC Red bull Salzburg (Austria - EBEL) lost to HV 71 (Sweden - SHL)  3-1 in CHL action.  This was also a meaningless game as both teams have advanced.

Brian Salcido and ERC Ingolstadt (Germany - DEL) lost to the Braehead Clan  6-4 in CHL action.

Andrew Canzanello and Villach (Austrian EBEL) lost both of their games in Italy over the weekend, losing to Starbulls Rosenheim and Rittner Buam in the Arena Cup. It's Canzy's first year in Austria, having spent the last 8 years with the Straubing Tigers of the German DEL.

Marty Sertich helped the Hamburg Freezers (Germany - DEL) defeat Danish club the Herning Blue Foxes 5-0 in exhibition play. Sertich finished the game with 1 assist.

Bill Sweatt was held off the scoresheet but Lulea (Sweden - SHL) still went on to beat Lukko Rauma (Finland - SM-Liga) 3-0 in Champions Hockey League play. Lulea advances to the round of 32 after winning Group F.
