NHL Prospects Camps Are Underway This Week

2015 first overall pick Connor McDavid skates at the Edmonton Oilers Prospect Development Camp.

Now that the NHL draft and first few days of NHL free agency are over with, many teams are focussing their attention on their annual prospects camps that are taking place this week. For most players this is their first time being exposed to what it will take to become a professional hockey player. If you follow any of the NHL teams on their social media pages you will see the athletes going through different types of testing and even cooking classes (remember most of these guys have been living with billet families who cook, clean and probably even do their laundry).

Colorado College Strength and Conditioning coach Kevin Cronin will be in Denver this week working with the Avalanche prospects as he helps to show them what kind of training and commitment it will take for these guys to make the next jump in their careers. You can see the full schedule for the AV's camp, which is open to the public here
