July 1st is always a busy and exciting day of the year. For all our Canadian friends it is a time to celebrate Canada Day, and it also marks the opening for the National Hockey League free agency period. It's always exciting to see what type of moves teams are making, and it's also awesome to see where former teammates and friends will continue to pursue their dream of playing in the NHL, if they haven't made it already. Here's a couple signings with ties to Colorado Springs and Mountain High Hockey.
Goaltender Curtis McElhinney (Colorado College 05') signed a two year extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets. You can read the CBJ press release here.
Former Colordao College goaltender Richard Bachman, will continue his career with the Vancouver Canucks after signing a 2 year contract. You can read the Canucks press release here.
Nate Prosser ( CC 10' defenseman) signed a 2 year contract extension with the Minnesota Wild. You can read the Wild press release here.
Colorado Springs native Ben Holmstrom, has signed a contract with the New York Islanders.
Also a huge congrats to Colorado College defenseman Jacob Slavin, who will begin his professional career after signing a 3 year entry level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. You can read the press release here.
